George Otte, Vice Chair
West Bay Sanitary District, Council Member
George Otte is a licensed Civil Engineer whose career has spanned 34 years working in the private sector for regional consulting firms in the water and wastewater fields. Many of his former clients included cities and special districts in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is now retired.
George grew up in Redwood City and has lived within the District since 1987. George was appointed to the SVCW Commission in February 2017 replacing outgoing Commissioner, Edward Moritz.
Mark is enjoying his time on the Council, particularly with the big, thorny issues that have no clear-cut solutions. While he's keenly aware of the challenges on our horizon - rising demand for housing and public spaces, aging infrastructure that must be replaced and the need to keep the City fiscally sound among them - he strongly believes the only real problem is the one you don't engage on. He also knows our opportunities greatly exceed our challenges. Mark was appointed to the SVCW Commission in January 2019 replacing outgoing Commissioner, Bob Grassilli.
